The Weeping Meadow is the beginning chapter in a new trilogy by Angelopoulos. Tracing the history of Greece from post-World War I to after the Greek Civil War of 1949, the story focuses on the life of Eleni, an orphan girl adopted by a family returning to Greece after their exile in Odessa.
